Ford Motor Company and International Truck and Engine jointly produce two vehicles under the Blue Diamond program, the F650/750 Super Duty and the Low Cab Forward (LCF). These medium duty trucks use the American Trucking Association's (ATA) standard J1708/J1939 communications protocol. This protocol requires the use of a diagnostic suite of tools referred to as MD Truck. It also requires the use of special communications cables to interface between the vehicle and the MD Truck software loaded on the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS).

 

MD Truck is a software package providing diagnostics for model year 2004 and forward F650/750 and all Low Cab Forward (LCF) Medium Duty trucks. The software package is installed on the same laptops running IDS. It runs independently of IDS although both diagnostics can run concurrently. Communication between the PC and the 9 pin deutsch connector is accomplished using either the NAV-Link or IC4COM cable. System requirements are the same as those for IDS.

Once the software is installed the user will have access to all diagnostic tools. These include:

ServiceMaxx – Provides engine diagnostic capabilities for the International 6.0L and 4.5L.

NETS - Provides engine module reprogramming capabilities for the International 6.0L and 4.5L engines.

Wabco – Provides diagnostics for the Wabco hydraulic ABS system used in the F650/750.

Gateway Service Tool - Provides diagnostics and as-built configuration for the Gateway module used in the F650/F750. It is also used to retrieve as-built data for the instrument cluster, radio, and HVAC modules in the F650/F750.
