The process of uninstalling IDS does not automatically remove the IDS software license. There is an option either to retain or to return the license to the License Server during the uninstall process as shown in the screen below.

When making the decision to return the license or not, keep in mind that a license is not tied to a specific version of IDS software and is interchangeable with other versions.

If you plan to reinstall IDS at some time in the future, you can retain the license on the computer until that time when you need it again. Otherwise, return the license to the License Server so it can be used on another computer.
